Once arrived in Beijing airport we transfer by coach to the north of the capital to our comfortable Hotel in Changping. On arrival we have time to freshen up before our first Chinese lunch. We then enjoy a free afternoon before our evening meal and briefing from our local and UK guides.

Day 2 – Badaling and Juyong – 11kms – 7 hours
In the morning we walk the original and un-restored part of Badaling Great Wall to keep away from the crowds. After a hearty lunch we warm those legs again on a steep part of Juyong Wall. This has been restored for Tourism but is still a great pleasure to walk. We then transfer to our hotel in Changping.

Day 3 - Mutianyu – 7kms – 5 hours
After our transfer we walk through the hustle bustle market to the start of our 1000 step challenge and then onto the Wall. We can see our goal in the distance where we will eat our lunch box after climbing the ‘Heavenly Stairs’ to the top! We then descend the same route, plus there are options of a cable car or ‘luge’ if you dare! Back to the market for souvenirs. Then we transfer to our hotel in Changping.

Day 4 -– Black Dragon Pools – 10km – 7 hours
We transfer to the beautiful Black Dragon Pools, climbing slowly along the path and through a cave, steep cliffs either side, resting for lunch at a bridge and waterfall. After we continue to the top where a Monks Shrine is and then we circle and descend back along the same route. Lots of history and beautiful scenery to keep us busy all day. Many steps to then meet the coach and then transfer to local lodge.

Day 5 – Gubeikou – 12km – 8 hours
After transfer we walk along the long and winding section of the wall where impressive pictures will be taken. Very undulating and passing through many watch towers and through and along the wall and farmland. The wall can be seen from many a mile away. This is a wild section of importance passing through a pass in the mountain range with much history. A long, but worthwhile day. We then transfer to the hotel in Beijing Wtown. Enjoy Chinese dinner at local Chinese restaurant. Beijing Wtown backs on the most beautiful and most precipitous Simatai Great Wall.The ancient Tanghe River branch winds through; the ancient buildings and resident dwellings are built by the water. In the evening free time. You may have a night tour in the town by yourself.

Day 6 – Simatai – 5.4km – 4 hours
Simatai Great Wall is the most well-known and the most accessible Wild Wall in Beijing. It’s 5.4 km length is lined by sheer rock faces that soar 1,000 meters from the ground. For it’s original features, Simatai is a spectacular sight and one of the most photographed sections of the Great Wall. Then an early night ready for our next busy day. In the evening free time. You may have a night tour in the town by yourself.

Day 7 – The Forbidden City/Beijing/Tiananmen square
Transfer to see Tiananmen Square with a group photo. Then off to see the wonders of The Forbidden City with much history and stories to be told. If time permits we may be able to visit The Olympic Park and a Traditional Silk Market and then head back to the Hotel ready for our Celebration Meal at Peking duck restaurant.

Day 08 – Free Day in Beijing
Today we have free to visit Beijing, perhaps visit the Summer Palace north of Beijing or the famous Temple of Heaven or maybe a Traditional market that sells exotic types of food. We re-convene at our hotel in Beijing for our airport transfer and our flight home.
